DETAILING FACTS

Why Detail your Vehicle?

Most people wash their car only once a month. Most manufacturers recommend every week and a wax every 2-3 months. Does your car get this treatment? There is nothing like the feeling of a brand new car. The smell of the new interior. The silky feel of brand new paint on sheet metal. If you're like most people, it's been a while since you have experienced that feeling. Every day your car goes through a torture chamber of rain, snow, salt, mud, food, etc.

Why not to use Drive-thru car washes?

Drive-thru car washes actually drive dirt deeper into your paint's finish with their high-pressure sprays. Stiff rotating brushes easily scratch your car's paint. Nothing beats a hand wash and dry! The price of a complete professional paint job is $2,000 or more! Without the proper protection, your paint is more likely to fade, peel or chip than if it was maintained with regular washes and waxes.

How long should I wait before applying wax?

Today's factory finishes are fully cured when they leave the factory. Despite what your dealer may have told you, it is safe (and recommended) to apply wax 21 days after you acquire your new vehicle. If your vehicle has been completely or partially refinished by a body shop, it is recommended to wait 60 days before applying wax.

Should I wash my car after it rains?

This is the most important time to wash your car. As rain falls it collects pollution from the air, a concept commonly referred to as “acid rain”. The water eventually evaporates, leaving a thin film of pollutants on your cars finish. The longer they stay there, the more damage they do to your cars finish.

How often should I wax my car?

Living here in Southern California, you should wax your car 4 times a year. Once in the spring, twice during the summer and once in the winter. Or you could seal your car twice a year using a good polymer sealant. More frequent waxing is needed if your car is red, black or white, as these colors are more susceptible to acid rain and UV rays.

Should I clean and condition my leather?

Leather interior is a major investment worth protecting. Cleaning and conditioning is essential to keeping the leather looking like new. If leather is not maintained, it becomes dry and brittle due to the environmental pollution and exposure to direct sunlight. It’s important to use leather conditioner between cleanings to prevent “cracking”.

How to keep your vehicle looking good between Details?

Frequent and proper washing is the most important. Hand washing is the safest and most thorough way to clean the exterior of your vehicle. No wax or sealant is effective enough to protect a vehicle from contaminates that remain on the surface for extended periods of time. It is recommended to wash your car after every rain fall or 10 days if no rain falls.

Don’t use Dish Soap to wash your car because it will strip the wax or sealant off!
